Our journey has led us to develop, “The Avengers Mentality”. This is the belief that EVERYBODY IS THE BEST. It doesn’t mean we are better than anybody, it means we are our BEST. We do not worry WHO is the best, we only focus on BEING THE BEST. OUR BEST.
Nobody is better. We just have different powers.
The Incredible Hulk is not mad that Spider-Man can climb walls and Spider-Man is not mad because Hulk is the Strongest. Their ONLY concern is with THEIR power and how it can be used to the best of THEIR ability. At NYF sports we want every kid to first recognize they have a power and then USE that power to be the BEST they can be at WHATEVER they do.
Our Story
Naybahud Youth First Sports (NYFS) was started by Coach Michael Jenkins otherwise known as, “Mike”. Coach Mike spent over 21 years working with kids at the City of San Rafael at Coleman Childcare Center, coaching Football at Terra Linda and Redwood High School.
During his journey, he realized that youth need 2 things to be able to to thrive:
To have a role model or person in their life that they can trust and feel comfortable talking to.
To have an create an environment where everybody is rooting for EVERYBODY and NEVER against ANYBODY.
Knowing this, he decided to combine his passion for sports with a place that youth could be embraced and not judged.
As a result, NAYBAHUD YOUTH FIRST SPORTS was born.
The Unique spelling of the word NAYBAHUD, pronounced NAY-BA-HOOD or Neighborhood, represents the uniqueness and inclusiveness of what we are trying to achieve. Our approach is simple, EVERYBODY is from a NAYBAHUD. Which means no matter if you are rich or poor, where you are from, what color you happen to be, you are WELCOME. You are FAMILY.
